Lola Snider, 84, of Queen City passed away Thursday (April 13, 2017) in the Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
The daughter of Boyd and Beulah (Deierling) Wheeler she was born January 15, 1933 in Queen City. She attended the Green Valley rural school through the eighth grade and graduated from the Queen City High School with the class of 1950. After graduation she worked in Ottumwa, Iowa at the O’Hara Hardware for a while.
On November 22, 1952, she was united in marriage to Clifford Snider who survives. She is also survived by three sons; Curtis Snider and wife Leonetta, Clay Snider and wife Cindy, and Carl Snider and wife Tish all of Queen City, nine grandchildren; Kimberly Snider, Cody Snider and wife Holly, Jake Snider and wife Chelsie, Craig, Collin, and Colby Snider, Cody Murphy and wife Jenny, and Jimmy and Shelby Murphy. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, two brothers; Donald Wheeler and wife Anna Lou and Richard Wheeler and wife Patricia both of Queen City as well as several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sons Joe and Doug, a brother Paul Wheeler, two nephews Randy Wheeler and Mike Wheeler, and one niece Bea Griswold.
Lola and Cliff lived all their married life in the Queen City area and for many years were in the oil business and operated a Standard Oil Station in Queen City.
Lola was an EMT and worked on the Schuyler County Ambulance for many years.
She was well known for her baking especially her do-nuts, cinnamon rolls, turnovers, and her Halloween cookies.
She was a member of the Queen City Christian Church.
Her life was her family and they always came first.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday (April 17, 2017) in the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Burial will be in the Queen City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gary Wheeler, Kevin Wheeler, Franklin Wheeler, Charles Wheeler, Charles Jones, and Steve Jones.
Honorary bearers will be Don Griswold, Randy Johns, Gilbert Schmitter, and Chuck Palmer.
Visitation will be Sunday (April 16, 2017) after noon with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City, Mo. 63561.
Memorials are suggested to the Schuyler County Cancer Relief Fund.
