Lorraine Eunice Williams, 97, of Joplin, MO passed away August 18, 2019 at home surrounded by her family after several years of declining health.
Born on September 8, 1921 in Berkley, CA she was the daughter of the late Lawrence J. Taylor and Eunice F. (Johnson) Taylor.
Lorraine was united in marriage to Clifford E. Williams on October 26, 1941 in Kirksville, MO.
Survivors include one son, Larry D. Williams and wife Connie of Joplin, MO and one daughter Janet K. Vincent and husband Andy of Vancouver, WA; Five Grandchildren, Dana M. Williams of Neosho, MO, Matthew J. Williams and wife Sharron of Sheldon, MO, Kenneth A. Vincent and wife Brenda of Grand Canyon, AZ, Candice K. Reese and husband Dan of Vancouver, WA, Kevin W. Vincent and wife Michelle of Camas, WA and 13 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister LaVerne G. McLay of Dallas, TX.
Lorraine was a 1939 graduate of Kirksville High School and attended Kirksville Teachers College where she took great pride in being a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. After their marriage, Cliff and Lorraine moved to Wichita, KS and remained until Mr. Williams enlisted in the US Navy. She then moved to Oakland, CA where she worked for the Army Quartermaster Corps until the end of the war. Returning to Kirksville, Lorraine worked as a Real Estate agent for Huston-Leeper and also for Montgomery Ward until retiring in 1977.
They were members of Kirksville Saddle Club, El Kadir Shrine Club and Kirksville Country Club.
A beautiful, elegant woman with impeccable style; she will be missed by all of us who knew and loved her.
It was Lorraine’s wish to be cremated and a private burial will be in in Maple Hills Cemetery with no funeral.
