Margaret Austin, 81, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Hospital in Unionville on Saturday, September 30, 2017.

Margaret Josephine (Bruce) was born in Unionville, MO, on October 31, 1935, the daughter of John Ober and Pansy Lee (Womack) Bruce, who preceded her in death. She attended Unionville High School. On May 8 she married William L. Austin and he preceded her in death on December 29, 2002.

Margaret was engaged in factory work most of her life. She and William lived in Allerton, IA, Grand Junction, CO, and Unionville, MO. Margaret liked to sew for her children, making a lot of their clothes. She also liked to garden and was very engaged in arts and crafts. She loved angel figurines. Margaret had a good sense of humor and was a great prankster.

Margaret is survived by three daughters: Teresa (J. C.) Davis, Powersville, MO; Debi (Earl) Phillips, Oklahoma City, OK; and Brenda Bowie of Unionville, MO. Margaret’s grandchildren are Angela Cook, James Davis, Kassandra Kiazer, James Wren, Tammi Levins, Michael Levins, Tanya Jardine, Jerimiah Wycoff, Tasha Wycoff, Bobbi Payne, Tamra Begley, and Josh Sumner. Great grandchildren are Kayelea Cook, Tanner Cook, Kelcy Cook, Ashlynn Selvy, Cayla Milligan, Kadie Milligan, Kinley Kautz, Chase Davis, Brayden Kiazer, Mackenzie Kiazer, Amber Wren, Seth Wren, Robert Wren, Orion Wren, Yashuwa Wren, Tami Tingley, Thomas Levins, Morgan Burns, Wesley Burns, Peyton Cobb, Ian Cobb, Jaxon Cobb, Kaden Moore, Korben Christian, Kolby Christian, Kolby Begley, and Kayla Begley. She is also survived by a sister, Marietta Petty of Iowa and four who she considered as her own children: Jean Nicholson, Lorti Spiker-Carter, Edwin Carter, and Randy Birkland.

A memory memorial service will be held at the Unionville Assembly of God in Unionville, MO, at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 7, 2017. There will be no visitation. Interment will be at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the family and may be entrusted with Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
