Margaret Groff

April 30, 1932 — September 10, 2018

Margaret Jane Groff, 86, of Sachse, Texas passed away Monday morning, September 10, 2018 at Oxford-Glen Memory Care. Her health had been in decline the past three years.

Margaret was born in Brashear, Missouri on April 30, 1932 the daughter of Ira and Alta (VanWye) Winslow. She attended Kirksville Senior High and graduated in 1950. She also attended Truman State and graduated with a B.S. in Math Education in 1966. She was united in marriage to Donald Groff in 1953 in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

During her lifetime, Margaret was a full-time homemaker in addition to teaching Junior High school in Kirksville and Schuyler County. Later, she taught math at Truman State University. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing a variety of activities including golf, ceramics, knitting, macramé, gardening, den mothering, and attending her children’s activities. She was semi-famous for her cinnamon rolls based on the number of requests over the years.

Margaret, and her husband Don, did quite a bit of traveling including family road trips out West as well as traveling to many countries and a large portion of the United States.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond and John Winslow; and sisters, Louise Bradshaw, Eileen Rowe, Dorothy Winslow; her husband Don; and her grandson Jeffrey Groff.

She is survived by sons, Michael and wife Kathy of Harrisburg, North Carolina, Kevin and wife Robin of Garland, Texas, and Kelly. She is also survived by three grandchildren Greg, Schuyler, and Colton along with several nieces and nephews.

There will be no formal funeral service but open visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday (September 15, 2018) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Park View Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
