Margaret Fern Salisbury, 66, of Unionville, MO passed away suddenly with her family at her bedside on July 4, 2017 at the Boone County Hospital in Columbia, MO
Margaret Salisbury was born at home in East Putnam County on September 1, 1950, the daughter of George and Mary Ann (Harmon) Sheehan. Margaret graduated from Unionville High School and married Darl Salisbury on August 4, 1968. Margaret always had a job working with people which she earned a nickname “the hugger.” She was the County Coordinator for Green Hills Community Action Agency for 38 years, a faithful member of the 1 st Baptist Church finding her strength in the joy of her Lord, served on the PC Café and Resource Center Board and the Housing Board. Margaret loved to travel, enjoying Amtrak trips and Las Vegas. Her country girl side was shared with her love of chickens, animals, the Putnam County Fair, and fishing. Margaret enjoyed thoroughly her large family gatherings. She was a Kansas City Chiefs fan, but loved more than anything to watch her grandchildren’s activities whom she loved dearly.
Margaret Salisbury is survived by her husband, Darl, of the home and two sons, Craig Eugene Salisbury and wife Cori and Shane Salisbury and wife Stephanie all of Unionville, MO. Margaret’s surviving grandchildren are Justin Salisbury, Faith Salisbury, Michaela Welch, Hannah Ballanger, Shaylee Salisbury, and Katelyn Salisbury. Surviving brothers include Dennie Sheehan and wife Barb of Unionville, MO; Melvin Sheehan and wife Elnora of Unionville, MO; Bill Sheehan and wife Ruth of Altoona, IA; brother-in-law, Donald Butler. Margaret’s surviving sister is Ruth Milner and husband Glenn of Unionville, MO and sister-in-law, Marjorie Sheehan of Allerton, IA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by brothers, Garold Sheehan and Ralph Lee Sheehan who died in infancy. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Opal Butler and Shirley Myers.
Funeral services for Margaret Salisbury will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 8, 2017. Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery.
Memorials for Margaret are suggested to the PC Café and Resource Center and may be entrusted to the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
