Marjorie Rosella Rollins

January 17, 1927 — March 8, 2020

Marjorie R. (Brown) Rollins, 93, formerly of Unionville, Missouri, and Seymour, Iowa, passed away at her home in Dysart, Iowa, on Sunday, March 8, 2020.

Marjorie Rosella Brown was born in Seymour, Iowa, on January 17, 1927, the daughter of Glen and Maggie (Stroud) Brown. A proud Warriorette, Marjorie was a graduate of Seymour High School and was champion speller. She was united in marriage to Junior Leroy Rollins on September 29, 1945, in Centerville, Iowa. The couple farmed in southern Iowa and northern Missouri, and later Marjorie shared her talents with Putnam County schools by serving in the lunch room. Marjorie’s greatest love was her family. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, and home canning. She was known for her bread and noodles, and Marjorie had the best hands for crimping pie crusts. Her grandkid’s favored her sugared water syrup over pancakes. Her house was filled every weekend with loved ones, especially her grandkids. No stranger to hard work, Marjorie encouraged everyone she knew because, after all, “Old can’t never did do anything.”

Marjorie is survived by three daughters, Linda (Doug) Robertson, of Unionville, Missouri, Vicki Rollins of Seymour, Iowa, and Lisa (Michael) Wojcik of Dysart, Iowa; and one son, James Rollins of Unionville, Missouri. She is also survived by two sons-in-law, Bob Lane and Jim Knowles of Unionville, Missouri. Marjorie is survived by her grandchildren Pam (Russ) Doty, Kimberly Milner, Diana (Brian) Howard, Tammy (Lewis) Head, Timmy Bunnell, Bobbie (Kevin) Lair, Kerrie (Aaron) Rose, Glennie Knowles, Andrea (Greg) Dalrymple, Cameron Knowles, Jessy (Jason) Morriss, Janet Sager, Jill (TJ) Payne, Dylan Rollins, and Eric Rollins. Nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson also survive as well as a brother-in-law, Charles Brown of Corydon, Iowa, and three nephews.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Junior, two daughters, Jean Anne Knowles and Judy Lane, a brother and sister-in-law Willis and Lottie Brown, her sister, Betty Brown and daughter-in-law Becca Rollins.
