Mary Jane Forrester

Mary Jane (Warden) Forrester, 95, of Independence, MO and formerly of Kirksville, MO passed away peacefully on Wednesday ,January 9, 2019 at Benton House in Blue Springs, MO.

Mary Jane was born in Kirksville, MO on November 21, 1923 to Ferrell and Pauline (Huff) Warden. She graduated from Kirksville High School in 1941. She worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, Foster’s Fashions, and for a number of years at Laughlin Hospital in Medical Records. She was married to Melvin (John) Forrester on April 1,1945 and celebrated 68 years together before his passing in 2013.

Mary Jane loved traveling, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grand children. She was actively involved with friends and activities at Benton House, where she resided the past three years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Forrester, and her brother, Gene Warden.

Mary Jane Forrester is survived by her sons, Dana and wife Judy, of Independence, MO; Don, St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren, Adam Forrester and wife Toni, Independence, MO, Allison Howell, Blue Springs, MO, April Forrester, St. Louis, and three great grandchildren, Paxton Howell, Lennon Webb, and Link Webb, and nieces and nephews.

The Forrester Family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Benton House for their loving care and support for Mary Jane. She considered them part of her family.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday (January 25, 2019) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Hills Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Saturday.

Memorial donations may be made to The Forrester Family Fund, Truman Heartland Community Foundation, to support scholarships and non-profit organizations.
