Melvin Graham, Jr.

Melvin Graham, 89, of Unionville, MO passed away at the Clarence Care Center in Clarence, MO on August 25, 2022.
Melvin Graham, Jr. was born in Webster City, Iowa on January 16th, 1933, to Melvin and Wilma (Dingman) Graham. He was the eldest of 12 children with only 3 currently surviving. On May 27th, 1956, Melvin married Viola Boothe in Eagleville, MO and six children were born to this union. Melvin served in the U.S. Army as Corporal in the Medical Corp during the Korean Conflict. He operated a dozer the first six years of their marriage in Iowa on Interstate 80 and on Red Rock Dam and engaged in dairy farming. Melvin even worked for 5 years at Con-Agra. Melvin was frequently spotted at auctions. He loved antiques and hunting. Melvin’s chainsaw sharpening skills were just as impressive as a professional logger. He enjoyed playing his harmonica for his children and grandchildren.
Melvin Graham, Jr. is survived by his wife, Viola of the home and 5 children, Lenard Graham and wife Evelyn of Unionville, MO; Melvina Dorsey and husband Jim of Galt, MO; Carla Wagner and husband Nicholas of Unionville, MO; Warren “Paul” Graham of Dallas, TX; and Charlotte Graham of Kirksville, MO. Melvin is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 siblings, Russell Ray Graham and wife Paula of Sherman, TX; Forrest Lynn Graham of Gallatin, MO; and Lynda Louise Jennings and husband Charles of Bethany, MO.
Melvin was preceded in death by a son, Ivyl Graham.
Graveside services for Melvin will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ridgeway, Missouri, at 1:30, Tuesday, August 30. A visitation will be held at Playle & Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
Memorials for Melvin can be made to the Rose Hill Cemetery in his honor and entrusted to the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
