Mildred Karaff

Mildred H. Karaff, age 100 of Searcy, AR passed away Tuesday (September 12, 2017) in Searcy, AR.

The daughter of Lewis and Nellie (Sportsman) Cupp, she was born July 6, 1917 in Elliott, Iowa. On May 5, 1937 in Pomona, CA she was united in marriage to Joseph Leroy Karaff.

Mildred is survived by her son, David Karaff of Searcy, AR; one sister, Mary Lou (Wayne) Burstert of Wein, MO; step-grandchildren, Courtney (Brion) Toler and Cole Griffin; three great grandchildren, Jordan Cato, Jayden Cato and Halle Grace Toler and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on September 25, 1982; her daughter-in-law, Jannette; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Mildred was the oldest of eight children and graduated from Kirksville High School. She moved to California where she got married. They moved and lived in Plevna, MO for 9 years, and in 1951 moved to Kansas City where she worked for Sears in the Catalog Ordering Department for 21 years until she retired. After retiring they bought a farm in Eldorado, MO and spent their winters in Texas. After her husband’s death in 1982 she decided to make her home in Texas.

She was a Christian and attended the Methodist Church. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and other military woman’s organizations. She loved Cardinal baseball, dancing, taking walks and enjoyed quilting. She was loved and cherished by her family.

Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 16, 2017) with funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Reese Blaine officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.
