Nancy Peterson

Nancy Kay Peterson, 69, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away after a brief illness on
Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center. She had
been a resident at the Kirksville Manor Care Center for the past two years. Nancy
was born in Kirksville on August 1, 1954 to her late parents, Jim and Edith Young.
She was born and raised on the farm 8 miles southeast of Kirksville. She
graduated from Brashear High School.
She was united in marriage to Sam Peterson on June 4, 1984. To that marriage a
son was born. The marriage was later dissolved.
Nancy was a homemaker and a kind and gentle person. She loved listening to
country music. George Strait was her favorite singer. Her family and friends were
important to her.
She was preceded in death by her ex-husband and her parents.
Nancy is survived by a son, James Michael Peterson (and wife Randi) of Kirksville,
Missouri; 2 sisters, Sue Scala (and husband Dave) of Surprise, AZ, Martha Young of
Kirksville, MO, and 1 brother, James Young of Kirksville, MO. Also surviving are 4
grandchildren, Collin, Dalesha, William, and Jessie, and 3 nephews and 1 niece.
Nancy will be cremated and a funeral will be held at Playle-Rimer-Millard
Funeral Chapel in Kirksville on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation
will be the same day at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the IOOF Memorial Gardens
Cemetery in Pattonsburg, Missouri following the service.
