Patricia Louise Green “Pat”, 93, Long-time resident of Kirksville, passed away on September 19, 2017 at Northeast Regional Medical Center. Born April 15, 1924 in Glasgow, Missouri to Irvin Edwin and Nellie (Norton) Schnell, She attended public schools and grew up in Fayette, Missouri. Pat graduated in 1946 with high honors and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central College (Central Methodist College). She was united in marriage on June 27, 1951 to Emil Walter Green. From this marriage Pat and Emil had three sons. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Irvin Edwin Schnell, Jr.


Pat is survived by her sister Joanne Heisler of Columbia, Missouri, 3 sons, Jonathan Patrick and wife Patti of Tucson, Arizona, Walter Eric and wife Betty of Kirksville, Missouri, and Robert Bruce and wife Stephanie of Russellville, Missouri. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren Jonathan Green Jr., Jacquelyn Jones, Joyce Gaines all of Tucson, Arizona. Audrey Green of Jefferson City, Missouri, Eli Green of Russellville, Missouri, Brent Blankenship of Stanley, North Dakota, and Stephanie Rinehart of Kansas City, Missouri . 6 great grandchildren, Ian Jones, Alexandra Jones, Michael Gaines, Grace Green, Isabella Gaines, Daniel Green all of Tucson, Arizona, one great- great- grandchild, Amelia Jones of Tucson Arizona.

Pat’s lifelong pursuit of the arts and education began with teaching in Webster Groves, Missouri, then to Kirksville, Missouri, teaching art at Kirksville High school. Pausing her career for 10 years to raise the family, she returned to teaching in 1962 at Ophelia Parish Junior High. More than one generation of art students made the trek to room 300 for art class. Later moving to a new facility built by the Kirksville R-3 School District on Cottage Grove Street in Kirksville, Pat retired after more than 30 years in public education.

In retirement, Pat and Emil enjoyed traveling here and abroad until health considerations slowed them down. Pat was active in the Red Barn Art Association, Kirksville Arts Association, Kirksville Area Retired School Personnel and Missouri Retired Teachers Association. Pat was a long time member of Mary Immaculate Parish in Kirksville, Missouri.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday (September 22, 2017) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (September 23, 2017) at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Maple Hills Mausoleum.

Pall bearers will be Mike Bradley, Ken Coy, Pete Detwiler, John Ben Grossnickle, Jonathan Green Jr., and Brett Schafer. Honorary Pall bearers will be Gary Bradley, Rick Buck, Steve Clark, Ralph Jones, Charles Kelley, Bill Mathews, Les McCollum, Randy McKim, Harold Osborn, Leon Schafer, and Don Ward.

Memorial are suggested to the Adair County Library or Central Methodist College.
