Patricia "Pat" Ann Pickering

Patricia “Pat” Pickering, 80, passed away at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville, MO, on Saturday, September 14, 2019.

Patricia Ann Pickering was born in Hartford, MO, on January 31, 1939, the daughter of Lee Ford and Mary Edna (Sevitts) Morrow, who preceded her in death. She was reared in Putnam County and later briefly attended college after high school. Pat liked to garden, especially her flowers, and even enjoyed pulling the weeds. One of her favorite pals was her dog Dandy. Pat loved to write and for many years was the Livonia correspondent for the Unionville Republican where she voiced her strong Democratic Party opinions and teased her friends through print. Pat had a colorful and lovable personality. She was the mayor of Livonia on more than one occasion and loved her community. She liked to write poetry. She also liked to sing and dance. Pat moved to Unionville in her later years.

Pat is survived by her children, Elizabeth Ann (Bill) Killmade of St. Louis, MO, Kimberly Hurley of Livonia, MO, and Greg Mathes of Kirksville, MO. Her surviving grandchildren are Michael Sterling, Crystal Hurley, Brody Mathes, Tanner Mathes, and Ashtyn Mathes and her great grandchildren are Eric and Karri Sterling. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Pickering, a grandson, Clinton Hurley, and a nephew Raymond “Mike” Morrow.

Funeral services for Patricia Ann Pickering will at the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 21, 2019, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow at a later date with a private inurnment.
