Paul Douglas Bozzel Davis, Sr. died Sunday, March 18, 2018, in Boone Hospital Center, Columbia MO, held by his children and grandchildren.
He was born March 11, 1934 in St. Louis, MO to Jesse Franklyn (Bozzel) Davis and Mabel Loes (McCormick) Davis.
After graduating from Missouri Military Academy he served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the U.S.S. Essex and the U.S.S. Philippine Seas, as well as in the Panama Canal Zone. After attending Washington University in St. Louis, he worked as a staff and freelance writer for various firms and publications in St. Louis, Detroit and Hannibal, MO and was the author of several books.
On July 5, 1953 he was united in marriage to Joan Wollbrinck, daughter of Ray and Helen Wollbrinck. To this union five children were born.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joan in 1993, and by his second wife Carol LeHoullier Schesser in 2005, as well as one son, Paul D-B Davis Jr., in 2010.
He is survived by daughter Deborah Francola (Thom) of Houston TX, sons Andrew Davis (Kathie) of Findlay, Ohio, Adam Davis (Andrea) of Kirksville Missouri and Matthew Davis (Stacey) of Hannibal Missouri, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. He will be interred with his eldest son and Joan in Memorial Park, Normandy, MO – within sight of Lucas & Hunt Village, where they met and fell in love.
