Paul Porter Ross

Paul Porter Ross, 89, of Cincinnati, Iowa, passed at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA, on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

Paul Ross was born in rural Appanoose County on May 31st, 1934, the son of Homer and Grace (Porter) Ross.  Paul graduated from Cincinnati High School in 1951.  Following high school he farmed and worked at the Baxter Box Factory in Centerville and Diamond Pharmaceuticals in Des Moines.  Paul served in the United States Army from early 1957 to late 1958 as a Teletype Operator working with Morse code.  Paul met Anna Parsons cruising the Unionville square and they later married in Lemons, MO, on October 20, 1968.  Paul’s entire life centered around agriculture helping his parents on their farm before starting to farm with his brother, Kenneth, at the age of sixteen. That is the farm he and Anna resided at until his death.  Paul and Anna loved traveling in their camper as well as cruises to Alaska and Mexico.  Most of all Paul loved afternoon drives around the countryside with his wife just soaking in the rural beauty.  Paul will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Paul Ross is survived by his wife, Anna of the home; daughter Janet Brodie and husband Greg of Ames, IA; and grandchildren, Brandon and Grace Brodie.  His surviving sister-in-laws are Ruby Ross of Unionville, MO; Charlene Neasham and husband Jim of Newton, IA; and Melva Henderson and husband Don of Lake Ozark, MO.  Paul is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Nancy Clough (John), Ronald Ross, Carol Ross, Tamara Yardley, Brian Yardley (Lyndi), and Jeff Henderson.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brothers, Jesse Ross and Kenneth Ross and a sister, Joy Coe and her husband Richard.

Funeral  services for Paul will be at Playle & Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, Missouri, at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at the White Cemetery, Cincinnati, Iowa.
