Pauline Christian

Pauline Christian, 78, of Unionville, MO, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 27, 2018.  She had battled cancer for about three years.

Edna Pauline (Simmons) Christian was born in Unionville on March 10, 1940, the daughter of Vier and Poe (McCollom) Simmons, who preceded her in death.  She attended Lone Star school in eastern Putnam County and graduated from Unionville High School in 1958.  Pauline married Gerald “Speed” Christian in Green City, MO, on December 30, 1960, and he preceded her in death on February 20, 2006.  Pauline and Speed spent most of their married life in Putnam County where he farmed and Pauline worked at the Putnam County Care Center.  Pauline filled a variety of roles at the Care Center including as a CNA, a CMT, in the office and in the laundry.  She retired from the Center in 2002 after 28 years of faithful service.

Pauline enjoyed gardening, especially raising beautiful flowers.  She loved to do anything outside, including helping Speed and her son Kevin on the farm.  Pauline had a sweet and quiet personality and was a gracious person.  She was kind to everyone she met.  Her greatest love was for her family and her grandchildren.  She accepted Christ as a young adult and was baptized at the First Christian Church in Unionville.

Pauline is survived by her three children: Trudie (Mark) Trent of Kirksville, MO; Jonna Miller of Unionville, MO; and Kevin (Kim) Christian, of Unionville, MO.  Her grandchildren are Bryan Pearson, Kolton Pearson, Cody Pearson, Whitney Trent, Katie Trent (fiancé Colby Steele), Kameran Christian (fiancé Kennedy Childers), Michael Robbins (girlfriend Sophie Errante), Josh (Lyric) Miller, Mikayla Miller and Myah Christian.  She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.

Pauline was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Charles Simmons, and a sister, Wilma Jean Simmons, both of whom died in infancy.

Funeral services for Pauline Christian will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home at 10:00 am Saturday, June 30, 2018, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at the Pherigo Cemetery.
