Regena Faye Shepherd

May 22, 1954 — September 29, 2018

Regena Shepherd, 64, of Bethany, MO, (formerly of Unionville, MO) passed away at Shady Lawn Nursing and Rehab in Savannah, MO, on Saturday, September 29, 2018.

Regena Faye (Brown) Shepherd was born in Unionville, MO, on May 22, 1954, the daughter of Charles Olen and Margaret (Kelley) Brown, who preceded her in death. She was reared in Unionville and graduated from Unionville High School in 1972. She married Terry Veach on June 10, 1973, and two children were born to this union. The couple later divorced. Regena and her mother opened Charlie Brown’s restaurant not long after Regena graduated from High School. They had two locations: one in Unionville and one east of town which was a restaurant and hotel. They later closed the location east of town but maintained the town location for 30 years. When they sold the business, Regena became a stay-at-home mom. She married Larry Shepherd on April 11, 2009 and he preceded her in death on April 18, 2011.

Regena loved to cook and bake for people. She was also good at many crafts, especially creating silk flower arrangements. She was a Sunday school teacher and Missionetes leader at Unionville Assembly of God and later attended Stringtown Christian Church when her brother Tom Brown became pastor there. Regena tried to live as Jesus lived and always said this life was just her temporary home. She also volunteered at the Putnam County Senior Center. Most of all Regena loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

Regena is survived by her two children, Eric (Julie) Veach of Guilford, MO, and Janie (Johnathon) Otto of Independence, MO. Her grandchildren are Jaison Anderson, Ayden, Emilee, Anna, and Ely Otto, Benjamin and Kendra Johnson, and Jaden and Breana Veach. Regena is also survived by two brothers, Robert (Roberta) Brown of Independence, MO, and Ken Brown of Unionville, MO; and by two sisters, Connie (Dean) Bland of Newton, IA, and Sheri (Mike) Blankenship of Jefferson City, MO.

Others who preceded Regena in death are a brother, Tom Brown, and grandparents Faye and Robert Kelley.
