Robert Keith Sutherland

Robert Keith Sutherland, 78 of Kirksville passed away March 22, 2022 at Northeast Regional Medical Center.

The son of Robert Kenneth and Hazel Imogene (Stephens) Sutherland, he was born May 16, 1943. Robert was married to Sara Jill Poston from 1964 until her passing in 1976, to Dr. Connie Holt Jones from 1976 to 1989, and to Betty Rose Brown from 1990 until her passing in 2021.

Robert is survived by two daughters, Diana L. Malone and husband Jason of Cortez, CO and Sunshine R. Williams and husband Bryan of Maryville, MO; four step-children, Amber Lash of Kirksville, Bobbie Bansal and husband Kabir of Kirksville, Terry Perryman of Katie, TX, and Lyby Graves of Macon, MO; one sister, Brenda Ulland of Independence, MO; one nephew, John Woods of Kirksville; 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife’s, Sara and Betty; and one brother, Jimmie Sutherland.

Robert grew up in Independence, MO where he attended school. He served in the United States Air Force from July of 1961 until his discharge in July of 1967. He last served at the Radar Base in Sublette, MO. He worked at the Florsheim Shoe Factory for many years. He was very good at fixing things and enjoyed working on cars. He enjoyed classical music, Elvis, watching TV, NASCAR and to Bar-B-Q. He was always helping people.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Hills Cemetery.
