Roberta Jones
Roberta Jones, 87, of Queen City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, in the Schuyler County Nursing Home where she had lived since December of 2018.
The daughter of Jesse Ray and Bertha Mae Aldridge Wheeler, she was born April 26, 1937, in the rural Downing area. She grew up in the rural Downing area and attended school there, graduating from the Downing High School with the class of 1957.
Roberta was united in marriage to Novle Jones on September 7, 1957, and they made their home in Kirksville, Missouri. While living in Kirksville, she worked at the Glove Factory. In 1974 they moved to rural Queen City and in 1975 she became a school bus driver which she continued to do until 2009. From 1979 to 1997 she and her husband owned and operated the buses for the Schuyler County R-I School.
She is survived by her sons Mark Jones and wife Lisa of Kirksville, Missouri, and Avery Jones and wife Mary of Queen City, Missouri, grandchildren Thaddeus Jones and Ethan Jones of Kirksville, Missouri, Chris Jones of Queen City, Missouri, Natasha Nolte and husband Cody of Queen City, Missouri, great grandchildren Kollin Nolte, Brandt Nolte, Breck Nolte, and Kanann Nolte. Also surviving are brothers Leon Wheeler and wife Linda, John Wheeler and wife Betty and Merle “Doc” Wheeler and wife Denise of Memphis, Missouri, and Terry Wheeler and wife Sheila of Downing, Missouri, one sister Sharon Kay Jones and husband Ward of Queen City, Missouri, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and two sister-in-laws Betty Wheeler and Kay Sidwell.
Roberta was preceded in death by her husband Novle, her parents, daughter Nola Ann Jones, granddaughter Britney Jones, grandson Mikel Jones and brother Joe Wheeler.
Roberta was a member of the Queen City Baptist Church.
Roberta touched many lives through her church and driving the school bus. She really enjoyed cooking and going places. She loved her family and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday (August 29, 2024) in the Queen City Baptist Church in Queen City, Missouri with Pastor Tim Van Bebber officiating. Burial will be in the Queen City Cemetery.
Bearers will be Cody Nolte, Chris Jones, Thaddus Jones, Ethan Jones, Ashley Bulechek, and Bryan Jones. Honorary bearers will be Kollin Nolte, Brandt Nolte, Breck Nolte, and Kanann Nolte.
Visitation will be after 9:00 am Wednesday (August 28, 2024) with the family receiving family and friends from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Dooley Funeral Home in Queen City, Missouri.
