Roger Dean Wilcox, 65, of Livonia, MO, passed away of natural causes at his home on Monday, February 5th, 2024.
Roger Wilcox was born on September 23, 1958, in Kirksville, MO, at Grim-Smith Hospital, the son of Ralph and Nettie (Tietsort) Wilcox. Roger was saved as a child, receiving the Lord Jesus Christ into his life, but came forward for salvation on October 4, 1992, at First Baptist Church. He was later baptized on November 8, 1992. Roger attended Livonia School as a kid, later graduating from Unionville High School in 1976. Roger started his trucking career at 18 with Missouri Mining and hauled an assortment of freight for a number of companies as a semi-truck owner/operator for over 48 years and in 2021 he started his own trucking company. Roger married Peggy Southard 37 years ago on October 4, 1986, in Kirksville, MO. Roger always maintained a love and interest in farming grain and livestock.
Roger Wilcox is survived by his wife, Peggy, of the home; father, Ralph Wilcox of Livonia, MO; sons, Daniel Snowbarger and wife Nikki of Greentop, MO, and Chris Wilcox and wife Kaitlin of Unionville, MO; and daughter, Whitnie Bass and husband Barney of Livonia, MO. Roger’s surviving grandchildren are Charli Snowbarger, Eliza, Ezra, and Enoch Wilcox, and Levi, Bradley, and Titus Bass. His surviving siblings are brother, Robert Wilcox and wife Cindy of Leaf River, IL and sister, Karen Spearing and husband Bob of Unionville, MO. Roger was preceded in death by his mother, Nettie Wilcox.
Roger loved to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone and anyone he met. He was always quick to ask, “Do you know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior?” Roger will be remembered fondly for his mission to pass out over 10,000 gospel tracts all over the United States.
Funeral Services will be held at the Unionville First Baptist Church on Saturday, February 10th beginning at 10:30am. The visitation will be one hour prior to his funeral. Inurnment will be at the Pleasant Home Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made payable to Unionville First Baptist Church and entrusted to the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
