Rosalee Wilcox, 87, of Powersville, MO, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 21, 2019
Rosalee (Hicks) Wilcox was born in Omaha, MO, on December 26, 1931, the daughter of John Ed and Josie (Leach) Hicks, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Livonia High School in 1949. Rosalee married Raymond Wilcox in Brooklyn, IA, on June 30, 1952, and he preceded her in death in 1994. Rosalee and Raymond lived in Iowa, Livonia, MO, and Tennessee before moving to Powersville in 1978. Rosalee worked at multiple jobs in her life including working in the kitchen at the Mercer schools. Mostly, though, she was a stay-at-home mom who enjoyed raising her family of five children. She had quiet strength that was a steadfast part of her family. Rosalee liked to be at home and tend to her garden, raising and canning vegetables and enjoying her flowers. She was kind and had a soft heart. She loved animals, especially cats. She even had a pet Blue Jay for 25 years. She enjoyed watching day-time talk shows.
Rosalee is survived by four children, David Wilcox of Powersville, MO; Danny (Dorothy) Wilcox of Promise City, IA; Donna (Josh) Wolk of Urbandale, IA; and Diane Hackathorn of Corydon, IA. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Jason Hackathorn, Josh Hackathorn, Joseph Wilcox, Josh Wilcox, Shanna (Robert) Osgood, and Kendra Rose Wilcox; one great grandson, Victor Osgood; a brother, Richard (Jane) Hicks of Unionville, MO; and a sister, Ruby Hicks of Livonia, MO.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rosalee was preceded by a son, Terry Wilcox, a son-in-law, Keith Hackathorn, and two brothers, Jim Hicks and Lloyd Wayne “Red” Hicks.
Funeral services for Rosalee Wilcox will be at the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville at 1:00 Wednesday, March 27, 2019, with a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 26. Interment will be at the Mitchell Cemetery, east of Omaha, MO.
