Ruby Delphine Owens

Ruby D. Owens passed away at home in Independence, MO, on Friday, September 29, 2017, after a brief illness.  She was born in Koshkonog, MO on September 24, 1933 to William E. and Mabel W. (Dixon) Buckallew.

Delphine graduated from Unionville High School and married Robert N. Owens of Cincinnati, IA, on November 17, 1956.  Together they had four daughters: Martha Schuman and husband Rick of El Dorado Springs, MO, Shirley Donnelly of Independence, MO, Sara Cunningham and husband Dennis of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Mona Owens and partner Earl Williams of Independence, MO..

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years; her parents; three brothers: Eugene, Raymond, and Edward Buckallew; and three sisters, Lorene Davis, Nadine Anders, and Ilene Anders.

Other survivors include two sisters: Waneva Haas and Phyllis Dively; one brother, Glen Buckallew; three granddaughters, Mandy Lawrence, Jestyn Swenson, and Ashley Williams; three great grandchildren, Dawn Little, Robert Lawrence, and Savanah Lawrence, along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ruby Delphine Owens will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 4, 2017.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at the Thompson Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers to Liberty Hospital Hospice House and may be entrusted with Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO  63565.
