Samuel F (Bud) Thompson passed away Wednesday, June 2 nd , 2021.
The son of Morris and Charlotte Thompson, he was born February 28, 1943 in Kirksville, MO. On December 30, 1971 he was united in marriage to Cindy Pollock in Kirksville, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dr. Tim Thompson and two sisters, Sydney Henderson and Heidi Palmer, and one sister-in-law Kathy Dulaney Thompson
He is survived by his wife Cindy, three sisters, Chelsea (Glenn) Berry, Martha (Dick) Andersen and Helen Laughery (Bettis Rainsford) and 2 brother’s-in-law Bob (Nancy) Pollock and Curt (Gie) Pollock. His very special niece Chandrika Collins (Andy Hickman) and many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bud spent all his life in Kirksville except for one year in Canton, Mo. as a little boy and one in St. Joseph, Mo. while working for Wonder Bread.
He graduated from Kirksville High School in 1961 and then attended Northeast Missouri State University. While there he was a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity. He also served in the United States Army.
He worked for Wonder Bread as a supervisor, then went to Burroughs/Standard Register where he worked until retirement after 28 years.
He was a member of the Kirksville Moose Lodge, Adair Lodge #105 AF & AM, Moila Shrine Temple and El Kadir Shrine Club.
He loved hanging out with his friends in the “old folk’s corner” at the TNT Gun Shop.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the Kirksville Moose Lodge. Burial will be at a later date in Maple Hills Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
