Sarah Catherine (Cathy) Baldwin, 82, of Kirksville passed away Sunday (October 21, 2018) at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
The daughter of John Junior and Freeda Christeen (Peterson) Evans, she was born September 11, 1936 in Kirksville, Missouri. On October 29, 1959 in Kirksville at First Baptist Church, she was united in marriage to Charles L. Baldwin.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Charles; two sons, Steven Lee Baldwin and wife Jennifer and Todd Andrew Baldwin and wife Anne Michelle; and two grandchildren, Jonathan Alexander and Laura Christeen Baldwin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Donald Eugene Evans and one son, Brent Eugene Baldwin.
She was proud to have attended Mulberry School and graduated from Kirksville Senior High School in 1954 and worked at the Kennedy Theater in concessions and ticket sales where she met her husband of 59 years. She was also employed at Rider Drug Store and later, Madamoiselle Fashion, both on the square in Kirksville. She was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church and a passionate member of First Baptist Church in Kirksville.
Cathy had a beautiful spirit that was evident in the twinkle in her eyes and her beautiful smile. Her life was a testament for her deep love and trust in Jesus. This peace and joy radiated from her to her family and friends, as it gave her the ability to fully embrace life with a joy and hope through any of the challenges that life happened to bring. She was a fountain of living water to those around her, always ready to listen and encourage with unconditional love. Cathy loved her family and friends passionately, faithfully, and sacrificially. She was a true friend to many. Her sense of humor and feisty spirit put a sparkle in the lives of those around her. Through her words and actions, she blessed her family by a life modeled by the fruit of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, and we now take comfort in Jesus’ words that exemplify who she is - “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God”. Words cannot express how much she will be missed.
