Shellie Ann Roland age 50 of Kirksville, MO passed away Friday, February 18, 2022 at Hannibal Regional Medical Center in Hannibal, MO.
Born July 11, 1971 in Kanas City, MO she was a daughter of Robert Hutchens and Karen Platz Hutchens. In July of 1990 she was united in marriage to William J. Roland.
Surviving are her mother, Karen Hutchens and Clive Renfroe of Kirksville, MO; her husband, William Roland of Kirksville, MO; six children, Angelica Roland and her partner, David Gonzales of Kirksville, MO, Michelle and Drew Roberts of Ann Arbor, MI, Sarah and Dylan Hummel of Ionia, MI; Robert Roland, Katie Roland and Albert Roland all of Kirksville, MO; seven grandchildren, Kaelei, Kirsten, Julianna, Emmalee, Leilani, Andrew and Sophia; and one sister Toni (Monta) Vice of Kirksville, MO.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Shellie attended Kirksville MACC and graduated from Culver-Stockton College at Canton, MO with a master’s degree in history, political science and psychology. She was a member of the Catholic faith.
Shellie loved her family and took pride in raising her six okay-ish children. She thoroughly enjoyed her work as a high school teacher. She had a talent for helping others reach their full potential. Shellie used that talent to help special needs and at risk students. She had a great impact on many lives. She adored being a hands on Ama (grandma). She always had arts and crafts ready when the grand kids came to visit. Shellie liked gardening and had a bit of green thumb. She was always learning new skills; home renovations, plumbing repairs, mechanical repairs, electrical work, woodworking and raising livestock. There was never a task she couldn’t roll up her sleeves and get done.
A Memorial Visitation with family receiving friends will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022, 5 to 8 p.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville, MO.
