Shirley Ann Acuff

Shirley Ann Acuff, 86, passed away on July 14, 2022, surrounded by her loving husband and family. She is survived by her husband, Charles Davis Acuff Sr., her two children, Suzanne Acuff Crabtree and Charles Davis Acuff Jr., her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marti & Bill Koch, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Shirley Ann (Vincent) Acuff was born September 2, 1935, in Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of Charley and Rosa (Lee) Vincent who preceded in her death. She attended Kirksville Public Schools and graduated from Ottumwa, IA, High School in 1953. On December 18, 1954, Shirley married Charles Davis Acuff Sr. of Kirksville. They had two children: Suzanne(Kenny) Crabtree and Charles Davis Acuff Jr. They have fivegrandsons, Jeremy Arnold, Scott (Elania) Arnold, Eric (Rachael)Arnold, Cameron (Danielle) Acuff and Calvin Acuff along with five great grandchildren, Ashley Arnold, Dustin Arnold, Riley Acuff, Brody Acuff and Vayda Acuff, beloved nieces and nephews, Matt (Destiny) Koch, Kristin (Kreg) Koch Moorhouse, Paul (Jacque) Koch, Brad (Beth) Acuff, Erica Acuff Boehlke, and Addie (Jeremy) Acuff Pittman and 11 great grandnieces and nephews Gavin, Landon, Rylee, Liam, Paxton, Regan, Claudia, Damon, Brooklyn, Charlie, T.J.

Shirley Ann was a member of the Cameron, MO, United Methodist Church where she was very involved in the Good News Sunday School Class and small groups. She also was a member of PEO and Beta Sigma Phi. She was preceded in death by her parents Charley and Rosa Vincent, her stepfather Burt Mullanix, and two brothers, Garold Vincent and Kenneth James Vincent.

Shirley Ann was a tremendous force for joy, faith and good in the world. She was a bright, beautiful, kind, and loving soul who was loved by many people, especially her husband of 67 years. They were very devoted to one another. Shirley also loved children and spent many years working as a children’s librarian and as a paraprofessional with special education students.

Shirley Ann received two awards of which she was vey proud: Outstanding Service to Shawnee Mission, KS, Public Schools, 1988-1998, and Outstanding Service to Cameron, MO, Regional Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors, 2000-2009.

Shirley Ann loved her family, friends, music, reading, art, playing bridge, dancing, cooking and sharing her faith in God.

A celebration of life will be held at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville, MO, on Monday, July 18, 2022. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm with a service to follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville. Memorials may be made in honor of Shirley Ann to Boone Home Care and Hospice in Columbia, MO.
