Shirley A. Asher

Shirley A. Asher, 69 of LaPlata, MO passed way Thursday (November 15, 2018) at the LaPlata Nursing Home.

The daughter of Lloyd Robert and Wanda Lee (Daniels) Dupree, she was born November 6, 1949 in Green Castle, Missouri. On November 25, 1966 in Green Castle, Missouri she was united in marriage to Larry Asher.

Shirley is survived by one son, Larry E. Asher and wife Eva of Greentop, MO; one daughter, Kellie Wehner and husband Wesley of LaPlata, MO; five grandchildren, Katlyn Asher, Buddy Asher, Travis Wehner, Nicole Wehner, and Logan Wehner; a special grandchild, Chase Morton; four sisters, Linda Hays and Ron Kiger of LaPlata, MO, Barb Dupree of Greentop, MO, Beverly Lawson of Green Castle, MO, and Brenda Houf of Bloomfield, IA; one brother-in-law, Jerry Asher of Kirksville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Sandra Kalo and one great grandchild, Jude.

Shirley attended school in Green City, Missouri. She worked at Twin Pines Adult Care Center, Florsheim Shoe Factory, was a cook at the Adair County Jail and then for Truman State University until she retired due to her health.

Aunt Shirley as she was known by many; was a member of the V.F.W and served as President of the V.F.W. ladies auxiliary, and a member of Northeast CB Club. She was a long time cook, time keeper and secretary at the race track at the fairgrounds. She loved to coyote and goose hunt, playing cards, camping, music, stock car races, and was a good cook.

Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday (November 18, 2018) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow. Burial will be at a later date in the Hazel Creek Cemetery.
