Stella Imogene Sevits, age 88 of Kirksville passed away, May 27, 2017, at her home under the care of Hospice of Northeast Missouri.
The daughter of Elmer and Sylvia Slaughter Steele, she was born October 9, 1928 in Adair County, MO. She was united in marriage to Harold L. Sevits in 1947.
Imogene is survived by two daughters, Janice Sevits and Joyce Cerneka (John); grandchildren, Tammie McKinney (Mark), Renee Vaughan (Mark), Jolene Ferguson (Chris), and Shannon Gidley (Scott); great grandchildren, Stephanie Householder (Jeff), Maigan Ellison, Markayla Ledford (Esai), Ashley Martinez (Ignacio), Breanna Gidley, Chris Vaughan (Jordana), Jenny Marshall, and Payton Ferguson; 13 great great grandchildren; and a special cousin, Richard “Rick” Steele.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Cleo Steele.
Imogene graduated from Kirksville Senior High with the class of 1945. She was employed at Missouri Power and Light Company for several years, and worked in the family business, Sevits Construction.
She was a 70 year member of O.E.S., chapter 184 and was a past Worthy Matron, El Kadir Jewels, and member of First Baptist Church, Kirksville.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (June 3, 2017) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Jason Marlin officiating. A private family burial will be in LaPlata Cemetery in LaPlata, MO.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday (June 2, 2017) at the
