Terry Cecil Platz

February 25, 1949 — May 11, 2021

Terry Cecil Platz, formerly of Brasher, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, May 11th following a brief battle with cancer. After graduating from high school in Brashear, Terry was drafted into the Army where he served for a short time before being medically discharged. Born into a farming family, Terry held a variety of jobs before earning his bachelor’s in accounting from Northeast Missouri State University and beginning his career with the USDA. He retired in 2001. Like all Platzes, Terry loved to play cards, playing his last game just a few days before he passed. Terry enjoyed being outdoors cutting wood and hunting mushrooms. He also enjoyed puzzle games, and his kids grew up watching him do the daily Soduko or crossword puzzle in the newspaper.

Terry is survived by his wife, Karen Platz; three children, Tracy Platz (Renee), Carey Webber (Dan), and Cory Platz (Lesley); seven grandchildren Katelynn & Lauryn Webber, Alexis, Brianna, & Garrett Platz, Avery & Kiley Platz; step-children Jeremy Kennison (Melissa) and Tracie Wood; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and one special step-great-grandchild he helped raise for 9 years, Aiden Loper. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Platz, along with nephews Marty, Kyle, Trent, and Brent Platz, and nieces Rita and Anita Lindsey.

Terry is preceded in death by his sister Donna Lee (Platz) Lindsey, his mother Helen (Hoffner) Platz, and his father Cecil Platz.
