Virgil L. Ellis

Virgil Lawrence Ellis Jr. 62 of Kirksville passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 at his home.

The son of Virgil Lawrence and Edith (Casteel) Ellis Sr., he was born August 10, 1957 in Centerville, Iowa. On April 17, 1995 in Davenport, Iowa he was united in marriage to Patricia Garien.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Patricia; one daughter, Cassandra Vandiver of Kirksville; three granddaughters, Rebekah, Arianna, and Melia; and one brother, Harry Ellis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son; and one brother, Richard Ellis.

Virgil graduated from the Centerville High School in Centerville, Iowa in 1975. He was a prep cook most of his working career. He also worked at the movie theatre in Centerville for several years.

He was a lover of history. He enjoyed model plains and trains and reading. He was a member of AA. He never knew a stranger.

Virgil will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
