William "Bill" Lacore

William “Bill” Floyd LaCore, 83 of Melissa, Texas formerly of Kirkville passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 in McKinney, Texas.

The son of Orville Lester and Hazel Leota (Smith) LaCore, he was born February 20, 1939 in Kirksville, Missouri.

Bill graduated from Kirksville High School in 1957. He married his one and only true love, Darlene McMurtrey on August 3, 1961 in Moberly, Missouri. They moved back to Kirksville where they enjoyed time with family and raised their two children; Bobby and Billie. Bill worked various jobs until he retired from KCOM in 2005. Bill and Darlene moved to Melissa, Texas in 2006. While living in Melissa, Bill enjoyed visiting his son at LaCore Power Sports, fishing, visiting with his favorite neighbor, Alan and sitting on the porch with his dog, Misty. He continued to visit Kirksville and Brashear where his daughter, Billie and grandchildren, Drake and Natasha built their beautiful families. “Uncle Bill” loved his nieces, nephews and their children, He was proud of his family history and everyone enjoyed hearing his stories. Bill’s friendly wave as you drove in and out of the property will be missed.

Bill is survived by his wife, Darlene; one son, Bobby Lynn LaCore; one daughter, Billie Joanne LaCore Morris; three grandchildren, Drake Morris and wife Krystal of Kirksville, Natasha Morris and Richard Hatcher of Brashear and Herbie Williams; and four great grandchildren, Isaac, Isaah, Ada, and Wilo.

He was preceded in death by his parent and two brothers, Robert Lester LaCore and James Fiscus.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.
