Worden "Junior" Kimmel

Junior Kimmel, 90, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away at the Miller County Care and Rehab in Tuscumbia, Missouri, on Friday, July 29, 2022.  He had been a resident there for two years.

Worden Junior Kimmel was born in Stahl, Missouri, on October 26, 1931, the son of Worden S. and Winne Belle (Hurley) Kimmel.  He attended rural schools in Putnam County and graduated from Unionville High School in 1950.  Junior served in the United States Army from 1952-1954.  He married Loeta Valee Butler in Aberdeen, Maryland, on January 10, 1953.  Junior and Loeta returned to Putnam County after he was discharged from the army where Junior was engaged in farming.  He went to work for the Missouri Department of Transportation in 1965 and worked in maintenance of roads until retiring in 1993.  He worked out of the Hartford shed in Putnam County.  Junior maintained his scaled back farming operation while he worked for MoDot, running cows, and putting up hay.  He also raised miniature Schnauzers.  He and Loeta enjoyed camping.  Junior was known for keeping a meticulous yard.  He was a nice, kind, and gentle man who was faithful to his family, his church, and his Lord.  He was a member of the Martinstown Church of Christ in Putnam County.

Junior is survived by his three children, Peggy Larsen of Eldon, Missouri, Doug (Kathleen) Kimmel of Unionville, Missouri, and Rusty (Jean) Kimmel of Elmer, Missouri.  His seven grandchildren are Tina Karcher, Brenda Ousley, Jonathon Daivs, Amanda O’Brien, Kari Guffey, Ryan Kimmel, and Nick Kimmel.  His 12 great grandchildren are Jacob Davis, Tyler Davis, Adian Davis, Lane O’Brien, Clara O’Brien, Courtney Foster, Trevor Guffey, Tori Guffey, Gretchen Kimmel, Ethan Kimmel, Cale Kimmel, and Chris Kimmel and his great-great granddaughter is Josie Foster. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Geraldine Kimmel, of Memphis, Tennessee.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, who passed away November 24, 2002, a brother, Keith Kimmel, sisters, Louise Sparks and Mildred Rhoades, and brothers-in-law Merrill Sparks and Herbert Rhoades.

Funeral services for Junior will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville, Missouri, at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 6, 2022, with visitation one hour prior to the services.  Interment will be at the Martinstown Cemetery.
